The Hospitality & Tourism Management department held their annual awards dinner on April 14 at the Park Plaza Hotel in Boston. The dinner honors alumni and leaders in the hotel, restaurant, tourism, and hospitality industry.
Rinku Singh and Dinesh Patel had never held a baseball before meeting J.B. Bernstein, but after winning the top two slots in his “Million Dollar Arm” reality TV show, they were signed by the Pittsburgh Pirates and became the first Indians contracted to play professional sports in the United States. Bernstein’s cross-cultural experience turned his career around, led to his marriage, and gave him a new perspective on the things that matter. Robin Chase was featured pundit in the second edition of Driven, Isenberg’s series of conversations with business innovators at the UMass Club in downtown Boston. After chatting informally with attendees for 45 minutes, she joined WBUR radio journalist Asma Khalid on stage for a 50-minute discussion of Chase’s challenges as a transportation entrepreneur and of transportation’s increasingly disruptive future. Following the conversation, Chase fielded questions from her audience of more than 100 business practitioners and academics.
Family, friends, faculty, and donors gathered in the Mullins Center to celebrate a group of extraordinary scholarship and award recipients. Honorees included stand out students and alumni with notable professional and academic careers. “Year after year, our students and alumni continue to exceed our expectations” said Janet Fink, Department Chair. “The [recipient’s] collective list of accomplishments is astounding.”

ElectroPure, a student team and developer of a water treatment/purification device for homes, schools, and other small-scale water systems, took first-place honors in the finals of the 2017 Innovation Challenge business plan competition on April 6th.
This year's Accounting Alumnus of the Year is John McNamara ’81 ’82 M.S., Assurance Shareholder with Sullivan Bille, P.C. McNamara will be honored on April 20th at Isenberg's Annual Accounting Banquet at The Log Cabin in Holyoke.
Isenberg’s Full-time MBA program has soared eighteen places from 75th to 57th in U.S. News’ just-released annual ranking of MBA programs. Isenberg also moved up three places from 16th to 13th in U.S. News’ ranking of Part-time MBA programs.
Jeff Prost-Greene ’12 is one of two Isenberg alums honored this year in the Forbes 30 Under 30 Class of Social Entrepreneurs. Prost-Greene is one of three founders of Up Top Acres, which owns and operates roof-top "farms" in Washington, D.C.
In February, 350 students, alumni, faculty, and staff attended the fourth annual Women of Isenberg conference, which brings together women from all career levels to talk about their unique experiences and challenges as women in business.

The pursuit of business and social goals in “hybrid” social enterprises was a key theme in the second annual Social Entrepreneurship Day, on December 6th in the Student Union’s Cape Cod Lounge. Coordinated by the Isenberg-based Berthiaume Center for Entrepreneurship, the day-long event featured a keynote presentation by Cornell University/ILR School professor Marya Besharov and separate practitioner and academic panels.
On November 14th, 115 alumni, faculty, students, and industry leaders, gathered in the elegant Sofitel Hotel in Manhattan for the Department of Hospitality & Tourism Management (HTM)’s annual New York City Reception.
